Photography was yhe result of an amalgamation of various developpement from different countries. But it really took off with rhe invention of the Daguerréotype in France in 1835. Consequently, any discussion about photograpy in France must include a mention of some of this country's illustrious pioneers.
The Pioneers
Nicéphore NIEPCE (1765/1833) Throught his work and research he was in at the very start of photography.
Louis Jacques MANDE-DAGUERRE (1787/1851) can be considered as one of th first true photographer s. An associate of Nièpce's he used his work to develop his own Daguerréotype.
